Manned by a highly professional academic staff, the Department of History is one of the principal humanities departments of the College. The Honours programme has a balanced course content adequately covering the evolution of human civilization from time immemorial to recent times. Though there are four papers on Indian History, students have sufficient exposure to the past of the Far East, the U.S.A. and the Modern West. The course helps students in careers relating to education, research, civil services, journalism, mass communication, archaeology and museum studies. The faculty consists of specialists in diverse fields who have extensively contributed in areas of their interest.
